About Lily

You found your way here! Welcome. My name is Chang Xian Deng, but most people call me Lily. I have lived in the UK for nearly twenty years now, but something was missing: a deep connection with the outside world.
I have always wanted to understand what makes me tick, what has worked for me in my life, and what hasn’t. I’ve pondered what makes me unique, what I possess that others don’t, and what I can provide to the world and the people around me.
During my journey to discover the meaning of life and happiness, I found two tools that have worked wonders for me.
What has brought me joy and satisfaction
I have a degree in creative writing and psychology, and it was a challenging journey for me. A great friend, Shannon, supported me throughout this process, and I will forever be grateful to her. I believe we will remain close friends for as long as we are both alive.
There were a few times when I felt despair over deadlines and my understanding of English. Mysteriously, Qigong and Tai Chi came to my awareness and magically helped me complete my assignments on time. Qigong and Taichi are an inherited art passed down to me from my great uncle, who was a master, and my gran, who practiced with her friends daily, as long as the weather wasn’t extreme.
So, in short, during my journey to discover the meaning of life and happiness, the two tools that have worked wonders for me are:
First, community, especially deep trusting relationships, has brought me tremendous joy, gratitude, and a sense of belonging. Research shows that these quality connections are the number one factor for human happiness and longevity, check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KkKuTCFvzI&t=677s.
Second, practicing Qigong and/or Tai Chi, which provides me with a peaceful mind and clear thinking, along with the added benefits of a healthy physical outlook, better sleep and a better attitude toward myself and others, and life in general.
A Connected Community
Each one of us is searching for happiness, whether we realize it or not. I thought, what if I could create a space where we can all practice Tai Chi and Qigong for health and vitality? We could also use this space to build meaningful relationships.
This has become my main focus: teaching Qigong and Tai Chi both online and offline, while helping practitioners connect deeply with one another. By encouraging them to ask a few soulful questions, we can foster bonds that make us feel like family and old friends, truly getting to know each other and helping each other when we are needed.
